Gosfield children will have a Hedingham School student to thank when they enjoy the new zip wire currently being installed in their playing field.

Francesca Adams, 12, of Greenfields, wrote a letter a year and a half ago to the Parish Council suggesting they install a zip wire after enjoying using a similar one in Halstead.

At the very next Parish Council meeting the proposal for a zip wire appeared on the agenda and a unanimous vote approved Francesca's idea.

Francesca said: "I cannot wait to go on it.

"Thank you Parish Council, I am sure all the other children of Gosfield will enjoy this amusement as well as me."

The girl initially asked her mum, a member of the Parish Council, if she could ask for a zip wire, but she told her daughter that if she wanted something for the community then she should write a letter to the Parish Council.

Francesca and her friends were so keen to have a zip wire installed that in the initial letter she offered to help with any fundraising that was required.

The girls weren't needed for fundraising, with money coming through donations from Section 106 money, Braintree Council, the Maurice Rowson Trust, the Gosfield Foundation and a few other donations from companies.

The £8,000 zip wire is currently being installed and should be ready to go in the next few days.
