The annual Halstead Charity Bike Ride is back for its 11th year and is set to take place on September 11.

The Holmes and Hills Solicitors' bike ride is one of the largest non-competitive charity cycling events in the area.

This year's event will be fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support after last year's ride raised more than £8,500 for Cancer Research UK.

Mark Cornell , Managing Partner of Holmes & Hills Solicitors, who is himself a keen cyclist said: “I am very pleased with how the event is getting bigger every year, it all started small 11 years ago, it just goes to show how the people of Halstead and the region are keen to support good causes. This event promises to be a great day out.”

Last year more than 290 cyclists took part with the organisers expecting an even larger turn out this term.

The event is open to anyone including individuals, families and business teams and will start and finish at the Homes and Hills Halstead office.

There are three routes to choose from, 11, 26 or 53 miles, with all riders invited to a complimentary after-ride BBQ.

The ride follows a scenic route through Essex and Suffolk’s finest countryside, with the 53 miles route going along the Suffolk boarder, passing through Belchamp Walter, Clare and Ridgewell before returning to Halstead through Finchingfield and Felsted.

Riders who wish to take part can register online via Holmes & Hills Solicitors’ website: www.holmes-hills.co.uk or pick up an entry form at one of their 5 offices.

All entrance fees will be donated to Macmillan cancer support.
