THERE was a rise in the number of moped thefts in the Braintree area in April, according to Essex Police.
The force's Community Messaging scheme has warned people to keep their bikes safe following the increase.
Advice includes taking a photograph of the bike and any distinguishing features which would help if it does get stolen, fit an alarm and label it to say it does, fit a tracking device on it, use a ground anchor and good quality disk lock as well as an immobiliser and park you bike in a locked garage or in an enclosed area whenever possible.
Essex Community Messaging gives out advice and information about crimes in your area.
