A six-year-old boy from Holland-on-Sea is ecstatic to have received a reply to a letter he sent to Her Majesty the Queen.

Jack Swinbourne has always had an interest in queens, kings and castles and often visits such historic attractions around the country.

“I like the queen because of her corgis and she does a lot for people,” Jack said.

His letter spoke of his interest in the Queen and castles and detailed the ones he has visited.

He also expressed his desire to visit Windsor castle and Buckingham Palace.

Now, three weeks after the letter was sent, a reply landed on his doorstep, complete with a special Buckingham Palace postage stamp.

That afternoon, Jack eagerly opened his letter when he returned home from Holland Haven Primary School.

But rather than the ‘standard reply’ expected, came a rather detailed and personal response from the Queen’s lady in Waiting, Baroness Richenda Elton.

Everything Jack had written in his letter had been acknowledged. They also enclosed some information for him on Buckingham Palace, other royal residences, and a picture of The Queen and her husband Prince Philip.

“I was so happy and excited to receive the reply so I took it to school to show my friends.  They were really excited for me,” Jack continued.

Mum Victoria Mitchell said she was proud of her son and happy the palace acknowledged his letter.

Jack has also written to BMW, who sent him some souvenirs.

“He is a very good writer. He gets very good marks at school,” Victoria added.

Now, Jack plans a couple of more letters, the first to Peugeot and the next to someone else highly influential- Prime Minister David Cameron.

But as yet, little Jack says he has yet to decide what to tell him.
