A woman is calling on drivers to stop parking dangerously in Halstead’s High Street.

Lynne Gibson, who lives in Halstead, wants to see an end to people parking on the double yellow lines at the top end of the high street, close to the mini roundabout.

She said: “The cars parked on the double yellow lines outside Costcutter make it down right dangerous, especially at night when it seems at its worst.

“I regularly drive by in the evenings and it is particularly a hazard when pulling out from Hedingham Road to turn right into the High Street as the turn is restricted and compromises the traffic coming up the hill.

“I have also watched lorries struggle to get round.

“Unfortunately the police appear to turn a blind eye, or maybe there is no one around to enforce the law.

“I would add that there are almost always spaces in the marked out slope opposite.

“Are people just too lazy to cross the road?”

A spokesman from NEPP said: “We patrol Halstead as a whole as often as resources allow, and we will patrol Halstead more often over the next few weeks, including the High Street.”
