A society is looking for people for its latest original performance.

Castle Hedingham-based group, Castle Players, will be performing Shakespeare on Love, written and devised by Lauri Scrivens.

She explained: “It features love scenes from various Shakespearian plays, including Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night.

“There is no story line running through it but it includes some of the love sonnets and well known speeches from the plays, including Katherine’s from Taming of the Shrew.

“Basically it’s a potpourri - a mixture - of various things to do with love to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.”

Riotous Assembly, writers and performers of historical musical documentaries, has also written five songs about Shakespeare’s plays which will be spread throughout the evening.

Castle Players is looking for between 20 to 25 people, who will all take on several roles.

Fairies, which can be children, are also wanted for the scene in Midsummer Night’s Dream.

“There will be lots going on so it will be quite busy,” Mrs Scrivens said.

“We have people from Lavenham coming to take part.

“Events are taking place across the country to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday and this is Castle Hedingham’s offering.”

Mrs Scrivens, who has written things for the society before, said it would be more like an ensemble of performers, with no one or two stars.

A read through of the script will take place on Monday 8 from 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall, Castle Hedingham.

Then on Wednesday, auditions will take place from 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.

The performance will take place on May 19 to 21.

**The society is also looking for a props/stage manager for the production.
