A popular pub in Halstead is set to undergo a transformation.
A planning application was lodged with Braintree Council last Tuesday to alter the inside of the Royal Oak, in High Street, Halstead.
Changes include moving the bar area, redecorating the inside of the pub, including the toilets, and providing new seating areas.
There are no works planned for the first floor or function room areas.
According to a heritage document produced by Doncasterbased Concorde Design on behalf of pub chain Greene King, which owns the pub, the alterations “would enhance the existing character of the building”.
The pub is a Grade II listed building, built in the 17th century.
It was taken over by Russell Best, of Rayleigh, in May after former landlord Jim Errington moved on.
