The community is rallying around a little boy who urgently needs surgery.

Lenny Pyne, a Year Three pupil at Earls Colne Primary School, has cerebral palsy and needs to undergo a £31,000 operation at Portland Hospital in London so that he is able to put his feet flat on the floor as currently he walks on his tip toes.

The operation is not available on the NHS.

The Colne Constitutional Club, in Earls Colne, held a charity night on Friday to raise money for the youngster.

Chairman of the club Steve George said: “We had a quiz, a raffle, other games and ended the night with a disco.

“We raised £2,000.

“We were not expecting that much - we were aiming to raise half that amount.

“It’s really nice to see the community coming together.

“It was a really good event.”
