A charity night will be held for a 70-year-old marathon veteran known as “Mr Halstead” as he battles cancer.
Terry Rivers, of Harvey Street, has completed 78 marathons but is in the middle of eight sessions of chemotherapy for lymphoma at Colchester General Hospital.
Mr Rivers has run the London Marathon 21 times, met the Queen and won a civic award from Halstead Town Council.
During his marathons, the grandfather of five has raised money for Cancer Research, Halstead Hospital and St Helena Hospice.
