Villagers have been left concerned after their bus service was earmarked to be axed.
Essex County Council has launched a consultation into plans to replace some bus services with demand responsive transport (DRT).
This is booked in advance and works similar to a minibus taxi service.
The bus routes that are set to be replaced are the more rural services which only run once or twice per week, such as in Toppesfield, Ashen, Sible Hedingham, Greenstead Green and Cross End.
However, regular bus users are not keen on the idea of having the service replaced.
Peter Meider, of Camoise Close, Toppesfield, uses the bus service regularly to get into Haverhill on a Friday and Braintree on a Wednesday.
He said: “We want to keep it going."
