Town ‘out on a limb’: Company takes over axed services – but Halstead misses out
Halstead has been dubbed the "poor relation" to Witham and Braintree after an axed bus route was not taken up by a new company.
Stephensons of Essex announced it will roll out five new double-deckers and eight new drivers to cover the 21 and 30 Braintree services and parts of the 131/132 routes when First Essex withdraw from them on
November 1.
However, the company has written Halstead off the 131/132 route, which from November 1 will only run between Witham and Braintree.
