A young bike enthusiast has been left fuming after his motocross bike was stolen.

Luke Ruffles, 19, kept the red and black Honda CR125 bike in his shed at home in Oxford Meadows, Sible Hedingham.

He had only had the 1999-plated bike, worth about £2,000, since March and had been out on it the night before.

Mr Ruffles said: “I locked the back door of the house on Monday morning and looked over at the shed.

“Usually I can see the shed door, but this time all I could see was blackness.

“I went over to investigate and the door was missing.

“I didn’t want to get too close, because I knew my bike would have been stolen, but I could see they had taken all the screws off of the hinges on the door.

“There were three screws and three hinges so it must have taken them a while.”

The bike only has third party insurance, so he is unsure if it is covered or not.

“My friend from Sible Hedingham, Matt Berry, had his bike stolen recently too,” he said.

“I’m not sure if I was targeted.

“The police said there is no point getting forensics to get fingerprints because the wooden door is now wet.

“I used to leave my bike outside the front of the house - I really didn’t expect this to happen.

“Someone thought they heard the engine at about 12.30am, but it might not have been the bike.”

The bike is rare as it is a road legal motocross bike.

The registration number is S316 AUP and the frame number is JH2JE01A1XM302291.

Matt Berry’s red Honda CRF250R Buildbase bike was stolen on July 27 from a garage in Hilton Way, Sible Hedingham.

Witnesses are asked to call Braintree police station on 101.
