Volunteers are being urgently sought to enable the town’s Youth Bus to run once more.

The Youth Bus visited Butler Road car park, in Halstead, on Friday nights from 6.30pm until 9.30pm.

It provided youngsters with a range of services and activities including computer games, sexual health advice and careers information.

However, the service had to be axed in April due to a lack of volunteers.

An Essex County Council spokesman said “Essex County Council Youth Services are really keen to ensure that the Youth Bus continues to call at Halstead town on a regular basis but we need your help.

“Volunteers are needed to assist us in ensuring that we can continue the service.

“If you are interested in giving some spare time to work with young people in the town, then we will provide training and enable you to gain the experience necessary.”

There have recently been concerns about anti-social behaviour in the car park, with Braintree Council officers and Essex Police announcing a crack down on anti-social incidents in the area.

Nearby residents have complained of a recent increase in litter, vandalism, noise and nuisance behaviour on motorbikes.
