A former Hedingham School pupil has got a world record after making the largest sock puppet.

Jody Lewis, 27, who was born in Sible Hedingham, spent a week making the 10ft 6inch puppet from 66 socks.

She used 15 kilograms of poly fibre to stuff it.

The receptionist said: “It was on my bucket list to get a world record.

“I’m not really sure where the idea for the largest sock puppet came from.

“I opened up the socks and then stitched them together.

“I haven’t done much stitching before, but I do a lot of art so I learnt a lot while making it.

“We are not sure what to do with it now - it’s quite something to store.

“My children, Hollie, five, and one-year-old Ivy, love climbing all over it.

“My husband, Shane, has created a Facebook page for it and we are open to suggestions as to what to do with it.

“We are thinking of maybe going around local libraries and children’s hospitals with it.

“Shane has been very supportive, although he thought I was quite crazy to begin with.”

Jody, who now lives in Somerset, received the official certificate on Friday confirming she was the world record holder.

She is now planning to tackle the next item on her bucket list, a holiday to Canada.
