AN historic castle will be used as a projector screen to show scenes from classic movies this summer.

Hedingham Castle is taking part in a touring film festival which will see unique venues in Essex transformed into makeshift cinemas.

The castle’s famous Norman keep will become a huge film screen for excerpts from Henry V, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Adventures of Robin Hood.

The films Paddington and Casablanca will also be screened in the banqueting hall as part of the Incredible Moving Picture House festival.

The festival is a partnership between Visit Essex, Cambridge Film Trust and Film Hub Central East.

Cressing Temple Barns, near Braintree, Promenade Park in Maldon and Stow Maries Aerodrome will also be taking part in the festival, which runs from August 8 to August 14.

George Kieffer, chairman of Visit Essex, said: “Essex has a wealth of beautiful, historic and iconic locations, so it was a perfect fit with this exciting concept.

“Our only problem was whittling a long list of perfect venues down to just four.”
