Residents have described seeing blood pouring from a man’s face and covering the pavement after two men were left with serious injuries.
People living in Parsonage Street and Kings Road, both in Halstead, were woken at about 11pm on Saturday after four police cars blocked off the road.
A police spokesman said: “Officers arrested a man on suspicion of grevious bodily harm following an incident at Parsonage Street in Halstead.
“Police were called with reports of a disturbance.
“Two local men - aged 38 and 64 - received serious facial injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
“Police arrested a 22-year-old man from Halstead later that evening.
“He is currently on police bail and will answer on August 21.”
An East of England ambulance spokesman said: “Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle attended and treated two patients – one man was taken to Colchester General Hospital with a head injury.
“Another patient was treated with facial injuries but was discharged from scene.”
