Four pupils from the Halstead area are travelling to Moldova for two weeks of voluntary work.

The 17-year-olds, James Abbott, of Colne Engine, and Elisha Harrington, Alice Kellaway and Ethan Stenner, all of Halstead, want to help share God’s love with people from another country, who are less fortunate than themselves.

They will be accompanied by their adult leader Jonathan Stenner.

The youngsters leave for Moldova, a small Eastern European country between Ukraine and Romania, on the July 19 and return on August 1.

They will be part of a construction team helping to serve the community in villages and local churches with the Christian charity Operation Mobilisation.

Moldova is considered to be the poorest country in Europe and has an abundance of physical needs.

The group have already received sponsorship from The Earls Colne and Halstead Educational Charity and they are organising a fundraising musical concert on July 10 at Queen’s Hall, Halstead at 7pm to raise money to cover their flights and insurance.

Tickets for this event are available at £5 from Head Street Gallery, Geoff Abbott on 01787 224201 or Peter Harrington 01787 474561.
