Highways bosses have been criticised for overseeing a “disgrace” after leaving roadwork signs on a blind bend for 14 months despite carrying out no work.
Barriers were placed around a stretch of road on Chapel Hill, Halstead, in March 2014 so Essex County Council could repair a culvert.
Despite the work, near the junction with Berridge Road, being labelled a “priority” last September, nothing has been done.
Halstead county councillor Joe Pike said it was “beyond a joke”.
Alan Gladwin, of Mill Bridge, uses the road to visit the Woodlands Gym in White Ash Green three times a week.
The 73-year-old said: “It’s the bane of my life. It’s dangerous, it’s on a blind bend."
