A school is celebrating the achievements of its sixth form students with an art exhibition.

Hedingham School and Sixth Form’s AS and A2 art students will be showing off their 2015 art pieces at the Minories Gallery.

The show entitled, Brush Strokes, includes paintings produced by the students in the one day AS level exam and the three day A2 practical exam.

The exhibited work is very varied in content and includes landscape, portrait and seascape paintings, together with students’ preparatory sketch books which offer an insight into the inspiration for their work.

Kathy Crawley, leader of art at the school, said: “Having their work exhibited at such an impressive gallery is incredibly beneficial for our A level Art students in terms of gaining exhibition experience.

“Their outstanding work is also available to be seen by a much wider audience.’ Sam Carter, 18, of Gosfield, said: “I feel very excited about having my work displayed in the exhibition and I can’t wait to see how the public respond to my final piece.”

The Minories is a professional, contemporary art gallery run and managed by Colchester School of Art.

Manager, Lee Pugh said: “We are really keen to build and develop good relationships with secondary schools across the region.

“Many students from the school will go on to become art students at Foundation and Degree level and we are eager to meet them now and give them an opportunity to see how our galleries ad associated exhibition events are run.”

The exhibition will be open on June 12 and June 13 from 10am until 5pm.

Entry is free and open to all.
