A tragic schoolboy’s fundraising legacy has gone from strength to strength thanks to friends at his former school.
Hedingham School pupil Arran Tosh died in June last year just five days after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
In a cruel twist of fate, the 13-year-old had already raised £600 for Cancer Research UK before his diagnosis, after a family member suffered with the disease.
Now, almost a year on, more than £40,000 has been raised in Arran’s name and a new charity – The Smile of Arran – has been established.
During the past year, Arran’s former school friends have played charity football games, shaved their heads, put on concerts, taken on bike rides, ran through mud and much more.
Arran’s mum, Alison Tosh, said: “A month seems to go by and and there is someone else doing fundraising.
"I think the kids still really miss him."
This week, pupils handed Mrs Tosh, of Sudbury, a cheque for £2,611 and spoke to the Gazette about their fundraising efforts.
