A popular former bobby has released his second book.
Pete Caulfield, a constable for 25 years who was stationed in Witham, Braintree, Castle Hedingham and Halstead, retired in September to focus on his writing.
He has now released his second book in The Jake Sullivan Novels series, called Ascension Day.
Much of the action takes place in villages around Halstead, and even the Halstead Gazette is mentioned.
The adventure centres around local policeman, Jake Sullivan’s search for six religious relics that have lain hidden on his quiet rural beat for over 700 years.
His investigations take him to churches in Little Maplestead, Pebmarsh, Alphamstone, Gesthingthorpe, Bulmer and Middleton.
