Parish councillors have held a meeting with Essex County Council leader David Finch to discuss road safety measures in their village.

Officers from the council’s Highways department were also involved in the discussions at the parish council offices.

Mr Finch said: “We had a productive meeting with members of Sible Hedingham Parish Council in relation to traffic issues.

“There is a plan to put an accident blackspot sign at the junction of Halstead Road and the A1017 and there are requests for double yellow lines in certain areas.”

At least four cars have crashed into houses in Swan Street during the last two years and there have been several serious incidents, including one in October in which a motorcyclist was left with a broken leg.

Parish councillor Sally Glenn said: “We are optimistically hopeful. It’s for them to think about the things we discussed and go from there.

“Nothing is concrete but we have asked for several things.”
