A woman has been ordered to pay nearly £1,000 for failing to comply with a waste collection order.

Joanne Phillips, 38, of Brendon Drive in Halstead, breached an abatement order because she put out an excessive amount of waste in the wrong bin.

She was also charged with allowing an accumulation of dog faeces in her garden.

The offences took place on November 28 and January 19.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court found Miss Phillips failed to comply with a notice served on her to present waste for collection in an appropriate manner but did not levy a separate charge for the other offences.

She did not attend court and was fined £400, with costs of £500 and a £40 victim surcharge.
