The annual winter beer festival in Chappel is making a welcome return.

The Winter Festival, a smaller version of the renowned September Festival, is held in the characteristic goods shed at the East Anglian Railway Museum This gives a great atmosphere - and also some heating!

There will be more than 60 beers, from breweries including Northfolk Brewhouse, Moonshine and Bishop Nick - among others, plus a selection of ciders and perrys.

The festivals are always popular and more than 7,000 people turned out for last year’s summer festival.

Entrance is free between 11am and 5pm on Friday and Saturday.

The other museum buildings - including the restoration shed and heritage centre - will be open between 10am and 4pm.

Following comments from last year’s event, there will now be live bands performing in the evenings.

On the Friday night, the Illicit Band will be playing, followed by The Banterjacks on the Saturday.

Due to the smaller amount of space available in the shed, evening sessions - from 5.30pm - will be by ticket only.

Tickets can be bought online from chappelbeerfestival.org.uk, or from 0871 220 0260.

Transport to festival is easy with train services to Chappel and Wakes Colne station on the Marks Tey to Sudbury line.

Easy main line connections can be made from Marks Tey to London, Colchester, Chelmsford and all parts of East Anglia.
