A girl broke a tooth after her bicycle got caught in a crack and she fell.
Leah Andrews, 11, was riding on the cycle path alongside Millennium Way, Braintree, on her way to Braintree Swimming Centre.
Her dad Paul, who was with her, said: "As we cycled using the designated cycle path, my daughter tried to dodge a large crack and in doing so her front wheel got caught in another crack, all on this designated cycle path.
"She was hurled over her bike and went face first into the uneven surface."
An Essex County Council spokesman said: “Essex Highways is currently assessing the crack in the pavement in Millennium Way and, once this has been completed, it will be programmed for repair.”
