He was a consultant on Steven Spielberg's epic, War Horse, and has appeared on television shows including Time Team.
But it was military historian Andrew Robertshaw's schooldays in Sible Hedingham that helped galvanise his love of history.
Andy, 58, said: "We moved to Bulmer when I was 14.
"The school was then called Hedingham Secondary School and I was there for the last two years of secondary school and sixth form.
"I was one of the first eight sixth formers."
During his career, Andy has been curator and manager of The Royal Logistic Corps Museum and head of education at The National Army Museum in London.
He lectures on British military history, has written a number of books and articles and appeared in television series including Time Team, The Trench Detectives and Who Do You Think You Are?, in which he researched ancestors of comedian John Bishop and the late Bee Gees star, Robin Gibb.
