A farmer had £8,000 worth of equipment stolen after burglars raided a grain store on his land.

Chris Butler, who owns Greenstead Farm and shop in Greenstead Green, Halstead, woke to find the door of the building open with a red Honda quad bike, a green Kawasaki all-terrain vehicle and tools gone.

A horse box worth £2,700 being kept at the farm was also stolen during the raid on January 11.

He said: “We haven’t been burgled for years but I’ve heard of a number of shed burglaries in the village in the last month or so.

“I have no idea if it is the same people or not.”

The horse box stolen did not belong to the farm and is described as an IFOR Williams 510.
