A tanning salon owner has defended the sign above her shop after the town council said it was “innapropriate” for the area.

The objection was lodged after Victoria Oakley applied for retrospective planning permission for the sign above Coco Tanning, which she opened in November.

The sign shows the salon’s name and an illustration of a tanned woman reclining in a bikini.

The 35-year-old mum of four said: “I am a bit surprised to hear about the objection to be honest. There hasn’t been a negative response from the local community.

“Business has been going really well and nobody has mentioned it up until now.”
