Plans to build more classrooms or a new primary school in Halstead to meet the rising number of children in the town might be too late, a headteacher has warned.
Essex County Council has been in talks with the three primary schools in the town about how they can best tackle the increasing numbers of places needed.
This year, 61 parents vied for just 30 spaces at Holy Trinity Primary School, while Richard de Clare Primary School is oversubscribed in some classes.
A headteacher says that plans to increase primary school places by either building a new school or expanding an existing one are overdue.
