A teenage boy has been charged after a man was seriously injured when a corrosive liquid was thrown at him.

The 15-year-old was arrested in Sutton, south London, on Monday.

It follows an attack on Wayne Ingold, who was badly scarred when acid was thrown at him as he went to get his post at home in Bramble Road, Witham, on August 8.

The boy, from Mitcham, south London, was charged with throwing a corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was detained in police custody to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today.
