A motorcyclist has suffered life-changing injuries after he was involved in a crash in Sible Hedingham last night.

A rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and the Herts Air Ambulance attended the scene in Swan Street at about 4pm, after a green Land Rover and a Yamaha motorcycle collided.

The motorcyclist, aged in his 30s, was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge by land ambulance with a serious leg injury.

He is now in a serious but stable condition.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We also arrested a 78-year-old man from Halstead at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving, causing serious injury and driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.

"He has been bailed until November 11."

A road closure was in place between the A1017 Swan Street in both directions at the A1124 Halstead Road junction overnight.

It has now been reopened.
