Little Maplestead’s unique Round Church will be adorned with flowers this weekend.

The flower festival on Saturday and Sunday is on the theme of jobs and professions.

Nineteen arrangements will depicting jobs including blacksmiths, poets, draughtsmen and mechanics.

Visitors can also see a small historical display, focusing on the village at the time of the First World War, and refreshments will be available.

At the end of the festival there will be an opportunity for people to buy some of the arrangements.

The Revd Gay Ellis, who is co-ordinating the event, said: “This flower festival demonstrates the very close links between the church and the local community.

“It can only go ahead with the active support of keen volunteers who give generously of their time, and of the local businesses who have sponsored the various arrangements.”

The church is in Church Lane and opens at 10am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday.
