A councillor is disappointed shoppers were not consulted when a supermarket replaced its popular deli counter with pre-packed produce.
The manned counter at the East of England Co-op in Weavers Court, Halstead, has been replaced with a Deli To Go section.
Manager Chris Wakeman said jobs had not been affected and the new section will provide customers with locally sourced produce.
He said: “Our new Deli To Go at Halstead supermarket has just been completed following a £600,000 region-wide investment.
“Our range has been selected with our customers in mind and reflects their deli favourites - all now supplied direct from our Sourced Locally partners in a range of pack sizes and prices."
