A water leak that has been going on for six weeks has infuriated residents.
Water is coming up from under the tarmac in Tidings Hill, Halstead for several weeks, but apart from being reported has still not been fixed.
Retired police officer Aide Smart, 67, of Highfields, Halstead, said: “This leak has been coming up from under the tarmac and running down the hill for at least six weeks. No doubt when we have a water shortage bills will rise.
“Utility companies are quick to put up their bills when we are told there is a shortage but seem happy to see our money flow down the hill for weeks.”
A spokesman for Anglian Water apologised for the delay in fixing the leak.
