Complaints to the region’s ambulance service have reduced by a third in the last year, according to new figures.

The East of England Ambulance Service received 798 complaints in 2013/14, 32 per cent fewer than in 2012/13.

The trust handled 912,000 emergency and 774,000 non-emergency calls last year, meaning there was one complaint for every 2,112 cases.

Trust chief executive Dr Anthony Marsh, said: “We have been working hard to improve our service to patients and this is another encouraging sign that things are getting better.

“I am very proud of our staff that are working exceptionally hard to improve the service."
