Three care home workers have appeared in court accused of neglecting a vulnerable elderly resident.

Anita Ray, Lorna Clark and Adeshola Adediwura all face charges against Joan Maddison at the Old Deanery, on Deanery Hill, Braintree.

Mrs Maddison, 82, was suffering from the early stages of dementia.

Adediwura, 32, of Clockhouse Way, Braintree, and Ray, 45, of Challis Lane, Braintree, are both charged with assault, harassment and ill-treatment and wilful neglect.

Clark, 44, of Nowell Close, Braintree, is charged with ill-treatment, wilful neglect, and two counts of harassment.

The alleged offences took place between last October and February this year.

The trio did not enter pleas during a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

They have been released on unconditional bail for a plea hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on November 17.
