Changes to the GCSE exams did not stop students from attaining top marks.

At Hedingham School, Sible Hedingham, 61 per cent of students achieved more than five A* to C grades including Maths and English and 99 per cent of students attained more than five A* to G passes.

Last year, 60 per cent of the pupils achieved five or more A* to C grades, including maths and English and 99.5 per cent gained more than five A* to G passes.

There were excellent results in a number of subjects and some outstanding individual performances by the students, including two students who both received 5 A*s and 5 As.

Headteacher John Panayi said: "I am very pleased with the GCSE results achieved by our students and wish to congratulate them for their commitment and hard work to attain their good examination outcomes.

"Within a changing examination landscape it is very good to note that Hedingham School has maintained high expectations for our students which has once again been reflected in their results. This consolidates our standing as a good school.

"I would also like to thank all staff for their tremendous work to ensure the success of their students, and parents and Governors for their continued support."

Honor Rendall achieved five A*,  five As and one B.

She said: “I am really pleased. I had no idea I had done so well and didn’t have very high hopes but I worked really hard and it has paid off.

“I’m staying here next year to study four A Levels and then I want to go to university.

“I will probably study either art or maths at university as they are my favourite subjects.”
