A property firm has applied for an alcohol licence for a popular pub that it plans to turn into a shop.
SEP Properties was granted planning permission last month for extensions to The Woodman in Colchester Road, Halstead, with the intention of turning it into a convenience store.
A total of 320 customers and supporters signed petitions objecting to the plans.
SEP Properties, commercial property investors based in Staffordshire, has now applied for a licence to sell alcohol to be consumed off the premises from 6am to 11pm between Monday and Sunday.
Residents can have a say until August 26.
