A girl's dream has come true after she qualified to compete at the Horse of the Year Show.

Amelia Lee, 9, of Bures, won her ridden class at the New Forest Show on Thursday to gain a place to ride at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October.

Amelia has been riding since she was three but says that her grey Welsh Section A pony, Waxwing Painter, is her favourite.

“It was great competing at the New Forest Show as I was one of the youngest and it felt good to be competing against older children.

“Painter was really good and is going to get a lot of carrots."
