Thousands of poppies fell from the skies to round off a weekend of World War One commemorative events.
Police stopped the traffic while crowds watched 20,000 petals released from St Andrews church tower in Halstead on Monday, following an hour-long ceremony of remembrance and a last post in the churchyard.
The event was the last of four scheduled for the centenary weekend in Halstead, including a display of wartime memorabilia at the Royal British Legion club, a themed tea party by Halstead Women’s Institute and a silver band concert in the public gardens.
Ramsey Academy students also displayed artwork in the old ‘His and Hers’ shop in Bridge Street.
