News that the former Kodak shop is to being turned into a beauty salon has been met with mixed reactions.

The salon, opening in the shop in the High Street, would offer facials, waxing, hair and nails among other treatments.

Ann-Maree Robertson, chair of Halstead Chamber of Trade, said: “The new salon might offer services that the others don’t and a new shop will create employment opportunities for people.”

However, the news has prompted concerns as there are already a number of hair and beauty salons in the town.
