Councillors are set to give the green light on plans to turn a popular pub into flats and a convenience store.
The Woodman Inn, in Colchester Road, Halstead, could be converted into a Co-op store if councillors follow recommendations to grant planning permission for an extension, a satellite dish and a cashpoint on Tuesday.
Plans also include converting the first floor living accommodation into two flats with a side extension to create a new access point and to install refrigeration equipment in the yard.
Six people could lose their jobs if the pub, which is owned by Punch Taverns, is sold for redevelopment.
A council agenda for the planning committee stated: “It is apparent from the submissions of the applicant that the intention is to introduce a convenience store use to the existing building."
