A Halstead man and his nephew will take part in a cycling challenge to raise money for a children’s charity.

Planning officer Matt Wood, 27, of Brewery Drive, and his nephew David Hooks, 12, of Rayne, will ride a total of 70 miles on the Suffolk Coast Bike Ride for Action for Children on August 3.

Mr Wood said: “David and I are really looking forward to it. I’m a keen cyclist and David has just got into it.

“It’s the first time he’s done anything like this so we though this would be good for him.

“It’s a great charity and it does good, local work, and I love cycling so it’s a dual benefit.”
