A concert sell out has raised vital funds for a community pub.

Toppesfield Community Pub Ltd, owner of the Green Man pub in the village, raised £1,400 after inviting Bishops Stortford-based choir Amici Cantate to perform in the village church.

The church was packed as people enjoyed more than two hours of music from around the world and the money raised will go towards improving the Green Man pub.

Such was the success of the evening that the choir has offered to come back for another concert saying that Toppesfield had been one of the best the venues it had ever sung at, with a fantastic sense of community being evident.

Alan Collard, Chairman of TCP, said: “The evening was a tremendous success, enjoyed by both villagers and the choir alike.

“This was something new and different for Toppesfield but the audience, which ranged from people aged eight to 80, soaked up the atmosphere and really took the choir to heart.”
