Villages are calling for speed cameras to be installed to slow speeding traffic in their village.

Residents of Sible Hedingham believe the measures are needed to stop people travelling too fast through their high street.

John Ewers Adi, 51, of St Peters View, said: “There certainly are idiots sometimes bombing through the village in occasions. Simple speed cameras would solve it or speed bumps.”

The Benson School of Motoring driving instructor added that the amount of speeding traffic does not look set to decrease.

“It'll be even worse once the new housing estate goes up. Let's say 200 houses with two cars per house, that's another 400 cars trying to get out onto Swan Street in rush hour.”
