Music lovers were in their element as Party in The Park took over Halstead’s Public Gardens.

Crowds of people packed the gardens to enjoy open-air entertainment from a variety of acts, including tributes to Elton John and British rock band T Rex.

Saturday’s event, organised by the town’s Empire Theatre, was hailed a success by those who attended.

I would've thought that being one the town's most well attended events of the year, 'Music In The Park' could have been given a little more coverage than the few lines above, where not even the name of the bands were included. Did infact anyone from the press stay for the event, as the photo above was taken in broad daylight before sunset and therefore before the headline band. For those that are unaware, I will just mention that the headline band was T.Rextasy (the tribute to Marc Bolan & T.Rex), supported by John Ellis (who played the music of Elton John), and Shanna (who started off proceedings when gates opened). The people of Halstead attended in their droves to show support for not only the performers, but also for guys such as Martyn Prince and the gang who is always giving up so much time to arrange such events. I personally thank everyone who supported the whole evening and for sticking around for the finale, even though torrential rain hit the town like a monsoon!

The event should have got more coverage in the Gazette. I even noticed on the HG Twitter feed, that they had not mentioned the event until T.Rextasy commented! Yet, HG chose to mention an event taking place in Witham! What's the point in a newspaper being called the HG, when they don't even bother putting in proper reports on events happening in the town? Well done to all involved, the concert was great. T.Rextasy went down a storm.
