Get your gardens ready for the judges.

Anglia in Bloom judges are due to inspect the town on July 24, closely followed by Britain in Bloom judges on July 28.

Halstead in Bloom, who co-ordinate the town’s efforts for the annual competitions, are encouraging all householders and retailers along the routes to tidy and brighten their frontages to give a great view of Halstead.

Secretary of Halstead in Bloom Julia Smith said: “The judges have eyes in the back of their heads and they will notice things that we never would, including weeds and plants in need of dead heading.

“Anything that anyone can do to neaten up the houses and shops along the route would be really appreciated.

“It’s great to get involved in this and support the community.

“Just do what you can for Halstead.”

Halstead in Bloom are hoping to build on their success of previous years, as last year they were named overall winner in 2013, winning both the gold trophy and best town.
