A care watchdog has taken action against a Halstead care home after unsafe medicine management was found to put residents at risk.

Inspectors for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) ruled that Attwoods Manor, in Braintree Road, required improvement in all of the five categories assessed.

The watchdog issued a warning notice to the home regarding the category about the care and welfare of people who use the services, ordering them to improve immediately.

In February, the CQC fined the operators of the home for not having a registered manager and the inspection, carried out in May, found that a manager was still not registered with the watchdog.

During a 40 minute observation in one of the lounges of the home, which provides accommodation for up to 65 people over the age of 65, inspectors noticed that one resident called for the nurse 17 times in six minutes before they were responded to.
