A musical evening has been arranged in a bid to raise money for a village local.

Toppesfield Community Pub Ltd, owner of the Green Man pub in the village, has organised a concert to be performed by Amici Cantate, a Bishops Stortford-based choir.

The theme of the evening will be “This Summer Night” and will feature music from around the world for an “English summer evening”.

The 60-strong choir is a registered charity and performs only on behalf of other charities and community groups that are looking to raise money. It has performed and sung throughout the UK and Europe and gained a reputation for its broad and popular repertoire.

Chairman of the TCP Alan Collard said: “They have performed at a wide range of venues since their inception 10 years ago, and have toured in Spain, Belgium, France, Scotland and Italy. They have sung at St Mark’s in Venice and in 2012 were honoured by an invitation to sing at the Last Past Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres.

“The funds we raise from the concert will help the Toppesfield community realise its ambitious plans to improve the facilities in the Green Man and make it more accessible to a wider range of people.”

The concert will be held in Toppesfield church on July 5 starting at 6.30pm.

Tickets are available via the Green Man, Toppesfield Stores, or from Alan Collard, TCP Chairman, at atcollard@btinternet.com. Prices are £12.50 for adults, £7.50 for children over 10 and free for under 10s. The price includes a drink and light buffet.
