A campaign has been mounted to prevent fields on Oak Road, Halstead, being turned into housing.
Neighbours Pamela Bicknell, 67, retired, and Tracy Allingham, 48, a cleaner, have posted letters through other residents’ doors asking them to sign a letter of objection against plans to build 300 houses on the two fields to the south of the road.
The plans have currently been submitted for a screening opinion, which means the applicant has applied to the council to ask whether an environmental impact assessment is required should they decide in the future to put in a planning application.
The neighbours will deliver all the signed objection letters to Braintree Council in person.
